In my last post, I showed you the evolution of my new colleague from a a-sexual Noob to a hot slutty bitch. What a change! But there was something I disliked a little and at the same time amazed me. She has a very basic looking avatar yet is quite successful in getting laid. Seriously, it doesn’t look very realistic. Pretty much like these “all in avatars” for a couple of Linden.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with those. In fact for as little as 300 to 600 LD you can buy a complete new avatar, including skin, shape and some cloth. Most of them also come with an animation over-rider. So if you are new to Second Life and want to get rid of your Noob avatar, without having to invest a lot of money, this might be a viable option. Simply search on marketplace for “complete avatar” and you will find a wide selection of read made avatars.
Nevertheless, time for some noob-coaching. Said and done! We met up and went for some serious shopping. First of all, I inquired what type of look she wants, what kind of person or personality she wants to portray with her avatar.
This is actually an important one.
Before you go shopping, think carefully about what type you are or want to be. Describe yourself with some adjectives or short sentences and write them down. Think about whether you would show aspects of your real life personality or not. If yes which ones? If no – do you want to create a totally different virtual identity? Maybe something or somebody you can not be in real life or somebody totally new, re-inventing yourself?
Whatever it is: Rework it, until you know what you really want. How you want to look like and how you want to be perceived by other residents. You think I am going over the top? Not at all, dear reader – your avatar will be a “second you”, so think carefully who this “second you” is going to be!
We went to 2 .000.000 shops, she tried 5.000.000 skins, shapes, hair and what have you. Well, maybe not that many, but it felt like millions of options. Here an important advise: befor you buy shapes, skins and hair : get the demo version first and try it on. There is a huge difference between those photoshoped adverts for skins then actually seeing it on an avatar. That is what demo versions are for!
The end result is an amazingly beautiful, cute, sexy and semi-innocent looking young girl, without looking barbie like. Here we go:
You like her?
She did it. Mrs. X. is no longer virgin:
