We investigated the porn business in Second Life briefly. We have found that there is a huge market out there for a business model which provides exposure to porn producers in Sl. There is actually only one platform specialized in showing pixel porn.

The site is www.naughtymachinima.com. Their business model is actually quite simple. They allow people who make porn videos to upload their work on the site. The producer gets audience and hundreds of people will see their work. In return, naughty machinima gets tons of free content, which they monetize with adverts for related products, such as the thrixxx chathouse or similar sex games.

There are online services which give you an estimation of the traffic a specific website has. I use www.similarweb.de for that purpose. I checked out the traffic estimation of naughty machinima.

The result was astonishing: 2.800.000 visits per month.

My own site, this one you are reading right now, is estimated at 35.000 visits per month. A lot less than naughty machinima. Nevertheless, I am making about 500 US$ per month from my adverts already. That is without investing in display advertising. It comes mainly from my positioning in Google and partially from my activities on twitter and some ad-boards in Second Life.

It doesn’t take a math genius to estimate the financial potential of a site, having almost 3.000.000 visits. I guess they make more than 500 US$ per day, not per month.

We will compete with naughty machinima. We will basically doing the same thing, but with some major improvements. Porn producers and directors, especially new ones, need support to become successful.

Here is what is needed:

• A place to make movies. A studio where they can rez their own stuff and build a scene or simply rez animations.
• They need models. Models which are not only willing to star in por movies but also qualify as models. Models who look the part, have time for sessions and know how to behave on a film set.

We will offer them both. We will actually build a porn studio inworld, which porn producers can use free of charge. Every member of the associated group can rez his stuff for 3 hours (then the items get auto-returned). They can also use the facilities we provide, such as an office, a studio and lots of other things which are useful when you make a movie.

In addition we will source potential models for them. We will hold interviews and castings with the candidates. We even do a short movie with them, which we will show on our sites. Those who qualify will be added to a group, where producers can choose their stars to be.

Porn stars to be need to exposure as well. Here on Second Life Adventures the models will be introduced to our readers. I will write a blog-post dedicated to each one of them. The post will include sex pictures of them and a short video featuring the model – a porn movie of course, produced at our studio. That gives them the exposure they need for a producer to hire them and to get known in the porn business as a porn actor or actress.

Financing to scale

I am talking to potential investors already. Two of my rather wealthy clients (escort clients, who pay well), are interested to invest a million L$ each. Some of you might know the saying: start small but scale fast. That’s exactly what we intent to do: Get cash to scale fast.

The cash invested will be used mainly to buy traffic. The way that works is quite simple. There are porn related sites selling traffic. The traffic is generated using banners, pop ups, mailing lists and redirects. I am quite confident we can scale traffic to a million visits next year.
