Laura | Mission Accomplished

Nobody intends to build a wall.

Germans know this phrase very well. The East German government made that statement only a few days before it actually built the Berlin Wall.

Nobody intended to build yet another character. All I wanted was access to a free head to see how it looks. Really, I swear.

This is what happened.

You are certainly aware that on Firestorm Island, there is a small store that offers free items to new residents. In my not-so-humble opinion, that was really crap stuff.

Until now.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the store completely revamped, offering free mesh heads for men and women.

On the ad, they were beautiful. Hence, I decided to test them for you. Yes, it’s all your fault.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say in the UK. Hence, I occupied one of the Firestorm Island dressing rooms and built yet another me.

I used the free mesh head I just acquired, the free basic legacy body that comes with the welcome pack, and the free hair, also provided on the new freebie shop in Firsteorm Island.

I wasn’t happy with the result, and I realized once again, there is only so much you can do with free avatar components. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. You don’t look a gifted horse in the mouth, as we say in Germany.

The outcome was definitely better than the stuff you have in your initial inventory, and of course, way better than the Senra avatars.

Nevertheless, I was disappointed because of the discrepancy between the outcome and the ad.

The reason for that is pretty simple: You only get the head, not a new skin. Applying the free legacy skin to the Milena head doesn’t look the same as the head on the advert.

Silly me. But if you are new to Second Life, and want a better head than the ones provided in the welcome pack, this is your best bet – I thought. More about that later in this series.

Purpose fulfilled, now I can send Laura to the pixel nirvana and delete the account. Who needs yet another account?

But before doing that, I teleported down to Firestorm Island, as I am here anyway, why not have a quick look at what else is on offer for noobs before going to Walhalla.

I shouldn’t have done that.

Find out why in the next episode.
